More than a decade of research, development and actual use has culminated in Pinnacle Oilfield Services, Inc. being able to offer you their crowning accomplishment - PINNCHROME Alloys. This versatile and economic hardbanding product solves both your casing wear and tool joint problems, pleasing both rig operators and drilling contractors. It is the only hardbanding product that can be applied directly over smooth tungsten carbide. And, your old hardbanding deposits do not have to be removed before applying PINNCHROME, saving you money, time, trouble and the possibility of damage to the tool joint.
Plus, we'll go to the pipe. Pinnacle Oilfield Service has mobile hardbanding units that can travel anywhere in the continental U.S. to save you additional trucking, operational costs, and limit pipe down-time. And as both the manufacturer and applicator, Pinnacle offers you one-stop shopping and an unmatched guarantee!!

Tungsten carbide was once a popular hardbanding application because of its ability to protect the drill pipe; however, once other factors such as wear on the well casing, downhole torque, and friction were figured in, it has not proven to be the most effective overall hardbanding alternative. In fact, studies show that tungsten carbide particles wear casing by machining away the casing wall just as a lathe would, causing either severly reduced wall thickness or in extreme cases wearing a hole completely through the casing wall.
|
Fortunately, Pinnacle Oilfield Services developed PINNCHROME, a hardbanding alternative that minimizes casing wear and provides the best long-term tool joint protection - making PINNCHROME the obvious choice for both operators and drillers. Studies by the Drilling Research Center show that PINNCHROME:
- Produces lower casing wear;
- Provides excellent hardness, abrasion resistance and reduced friction;
- Allows you to remain in service longer by providing the optimum in protection, reducing both casing and tool joint wear.
By cutting casing wear to a minimum and reducing drill pipe wear, PINNCHROME helps you avoid problems before they start - such as reduced torque and drag on the drill string.

Pinnacle Oilfield Services is the only company that both manufactures and applies its products, reducing the time and inconvenience factor for you. All of our field service representatives are qualified
technicians who can actually apply PINNCHROME for you or who will assist your applicator (both domestically and internationally) with machine settings and procedures to insure a quality job.

|
We can apply PINNCHROME on your rig site, dock, storage facility, or at the manufacturer's facility to save you time and money. We also have a 30-acre facility in Broussard should your operational concerns prevent us from applying PINNCHROME on site.
|
|
And, our special application process will save you time and money, because:
PINNCHROME can be applied on new or used tool joints which
have not been hardbanded, or
PINNCHROME can be applied directly over previously applied tungsten carbide or PINNCHROME applications.
In some cases, PINNCHROME can even be applied over competitor's existing worn chrome carbide applications.
Our competitors' products require that tungsten carbide hardbanding be removed prior to application of their product. In fact, PINNCHROME is the only hardbanding product that can be applied over existing tungsten carbide hardbanding without prior removal.

Applied over existing hardbanding, PINNCHROME creates a special dual wear layer giving you the best advantages of both materials. Tool joints in casing thus have the low casing wear benefits of PINNCHROME and tool joints in extremely abrasive open hole conditions have the best tool joint protection available.
PINNCHROME is the only hardbanding product that can be applied over existing tungsten carbide hardbanding. By doing so, you'll not only save time and money from not having to remove the tungsten, but you'll also get the dual wear layer advantage.

Pinnacle Oilfield Services offers one quality source for both product and application since we are both the manufacturer and an applicator of PINNCHROME. In fact, we're the only company that serves as both the supplier and applicator of hardbanding products, so you have no middle man, and only one source of responsibility.
Best of all, when Pinnacle applies PINNCHROME to your pipe, we guarantee the applications will not crack excessively or flake off or we'll repair the pipe for free. Our competitors can't and won't make this claim.

Chromium carbide alloys have shown promising results in respect to casing wear and tool joint protection in laboratory tests performed by Maurer Engineering. Significant reductions in casing wear were indicated by such products.
The DEA 42 Test Project also concluded that excessive casing wear often occurs high in the hole at doglegs and when tensile and side loads are high. In specific tests comparing PINNCHROME, Smooth-X and Smooth Steel tool joints, PINNCHROME:
- Reduced casing wear 71% when compared with Tungsten Carbide
and 65% when compared with bare steel with no hardbanding applied.
- Protected the tool joint nearly as well as Tungsten Carbide hardmetal (0.17 vs. 0.14 inch radial wear).
- Lowered the friction factor ... an important factor in extended-reach and highly deviated wells.
These tests verify that PINNCHROME will help you reach peak performance in the field: reducing casing wear, frictional drag, and exhibiting low tool joint wear.
